Native San Franciscan ALEX GEROULD didn’t pick up the guitar until the age of 17, and soon after formed MORDRED with high school friend and fellow medieval fantasy enthusiast Steve Scates on lead vocals. Building a set of songs influenced heavily by early IRON MAIDEN, VENOM and Dave Mustaine-era METALLICA, the pair of young songwriters explored themes of the Middle Ages, King Arthur’s Court and the writings of fantasy novelists like JRR Tolkien. Recently, Alex was inspired to put the old line-up back together with the goal of recording several of the old MORDRED songs and playing select live dates and festivals.
